Leadville100

Steve raced in a 100 mile mountain bike race starting in Leadville, CO which is over 10,000 ft. in elevation. From there they went up and up and up (with some down in between so they could go up again!) It is the hardest mountain bike race in the United States. I wonder if those who do it might have something wrong with them to be willing to inflict this type of pain to themselves, haha! Really I was really proud of Steve for doing the race and he did a great job. He got a great time the only problems was that he forgot to drink and eat during the race so he was pretty dehydrated when he got in but after an IV at the first aid tent he felt great again! Lance Armstrong also raced (and he won!) so that was also a thrill to watch him race and be there to hear him speak at the award ceremony. Over all it was a really fun weekend (at least for me)! Actually we both really had a fun time, it is something we will always remember.

Nono's Big Biking Fan!

Bracken loved going and watching Steve's bike races. He sat patiently while he was out on the road race and cheered loudly when he came to the finish line! He is talking about the day when he can race his bike just like Nono!

Huntsman Senior Games

Steve has worked really hard all year in preparation for the Senior Games in the road bike and mountain biking events. I want to recognize his hard work and I am proud of what he has accomplished. Here at the Criterium Bracken, Alicia, Wendell and Mom cheer him on! Yeah, go Steve!

Jamaican Vacation

Steve and I went to Jamaica for a little R and R last month. As most of you know Steve rides his bike EVERYDAY. Flying thousands of miles away and not taking his bike was a stretch for him, but he did well and actually managed to have some fun! We played at the beach, snorkeled, ate traditional Jamaican food (chicken, fish, rice and peas). What they called peas looked and tasted like beans to us. We also played in Mayfield Falls, it was a lot of fun. I did bring home a parasite though and that was an itchy experience! Overall it was a wonderful week in my opinion. I don't know if I will get Steve out of the country again soon, but he was a good sport and we had fun!
